Balance, gratitude and the second harvest

The Mabon Worktable

Gather around the autumn worktable and make decorations from wool, fabric scraps, saved paper, jars, ribbon and little treasures already waiting to be used.

Making Mabon Together

Mabon is a time of harvest, gratitude and sharing. Set out leftover yarn, fabric scraps, paper, twine, jars and simple templates, then let everyone choose something they enjoy. Family, friends, neighbours, schools, craft groups and community gatherings can each make one small part and bring the pieces together into wreaths, garlands, lanterns, cushions and seasonal corners.

Begin with the Motif Basket

Small knits with many places to go

The Autumn Motif Basket

Knit a small collection of leaves, berries, pumpkins, mushrooms and acorns before choosing where they will go. Use them for the woodland wreath, seasonal cushion, garlands, hanging decorations, gifts or clothing—or simply keep adding to the basket throughout autumn.

Many Hands, One Autumn

Not everyone needs the same skills. One person may knit while another cuts paper, threads a garland, decorates a jar or writes gratitude messages. The shared activity is the table, the conversation and the collection of pieces—not everyone making exactly the same thing.

Use What Is Already Waiting

Begin with leftover yarn, old jumpers, fabric scraps, jars, cardboard, ribbon, buttons and fallen natural materials gathered responsibly. Decorations can be made removable, rearranged and added to year after year rather than replaced.
