When to Use This Working
Use this water-working when your feelings are moving under the surface, when you need to listen inward, or when an answer feels close but not yet clear.
It is especially helpful when you feel emotionally tangled, uncertain, sensitive, or in need of gentle reflection rather than quick decisions.
You Will Need
- A shallow bowl of clean water
- A smooth stone, shell, or small water-safe token
- Optional: a flower, leaf, or floating petal
- A blue, teal, silver, or pale cloth if you wish
- A quiet place where the water can sit undisturbed
The Working
Place the bowl of water before you. Let it settle until the surface is still.
Add the stone, shell, leaf, or petal gently. Watch the ripples move outward, then fade. Let this remind you that feelings can move without needing to be chased.
Rest your hands near the bowl, or simply sit where you can see the water. Bring your question, worry, or feeling to mind, but do not force an answer.
Look into the water softly, as though listening with your eyes. Then speak the words below.
Water still and water clear,
Hold what rises, draw it near.
Let the answer softly show,
In the quiet undertow.
To Finish
Sit for a few breaths longer and notice what comes: a word, a feeling, a memory, an image, or simply a little more calm.
When you are ready, pour the water into the earth, a sink, or a plant pot with thanks. Keep the stone or shell as a small listening token if it feels right.
