The Autumn Folk

Keepers of harvest paths, copper leaves, gathered abundance and the quiet turning of the year.

When the leaves begin to turn and the light softens over the Cottage, the Autumn Folk start to appear along the woodland paths.

They come quietly, carrying baskets, seeds, gathered harvests and little reminders of the season around them. Each has their own nature, but together they belong to the same turning — the time of gathering in, giving thanks and noticing the beauty of change.

Marmalade

Warmth • Courage • Strength • Cheer

Marmalade is often found where the woodland glows deepest gold, gathering seeds and small treasures beneath the changing trees. She has a bright nature and a steady heart, the sort of Keeper who seems to carry warmth with her wherever she goes.

Her courage is not loud or showy. It is the kind that keeps going, finds something good in a difficult day and reminds us that strength can sit very comfortably beside cheerfulness.

Marmalade knows that even as the year begins to slow, there is still plenty of warmth to be found — in friendship, in laughter, in the last golden light and in the things we choose to carry with us.

Marmalade carries warmth, courage and strength, with a cheerful heart for the turning season.

Pumpkin

Protection • Abundance • Harvest • Intuition

Pumpkin is happiest close to the garden, where baskets grow heavy and the last crops are gathered before the cold arrives. She knows the satisfaction of full stores, muddy paths and the small comforts that come from preparing well.

Yet Pumpkin watches more than the harvest. She notices the subtle things too — the change in the wind, the earlier dusk, the quiet instinct that tells us when it is time to gather close and protect what matters.

Around her there is always a feeling of plenty, but not only the sort that fills a basket. Pumpkin reminds us that abundance can be warmth, safety, instinct and the simple knowledge that we already have more around us than we sometimes notice.

Pumpkin carries protection, abundance, harvest and the quiet wisdom of intuition.

Mabon

Gratitude • Balance • Harvest • Life

Mabon walks slowly through the season. She gathers what has grown, notices what has been given and remembers that every harvest began long before the basket was filled.

She is a Keeper of balance — light and dark, giving and receiving, growth and rest. Where others may hurry towards what comes next, Mabon is more likely to pause and look at what has already been gathered.

She reminds us that gratitude does not need to be grand. It can be found in a warm meal, a seed saved for another year, a task completed, a friendship kept, or simply in recognising the life that continues to move around us.

Mabon carries gratitude, balance, harvest and a quiet reverence for life.

Autumn

Cosy • Mellow • Colourful • Awe-inspiring

Autumn belongs to the deeper woodland paths, where leaves gather underfoot and every turn seems to reveal another shade of copper, amber, russet or gold.

She has a mellow nature, content to wander without hurry and watch the season change around her. There is comfort in her company — the feeling of warm layers, quieter evenings and the first real invitation to slow down.

But Autumn also carries wonder. She knows how extraordinary the ordinary world can become when we stop long enough to notice it: sunlight through coloured leaves, mist hanging over the path, rain caught on a spider's web or a woodland floor transformed overnight.

Autumn carries the cosy, mellow, colourful and awe-inspiring magic of the season itself.

The Autumn Folk do not ask the season to stay. They simply walk beside it while it is here.

They gather, notice, protect, give thanks and remind us that change can hold both comfort and wonder.
